Growing up gaining confidence was an issue for me, as I know it is for many girls. I always questioned and doubted myself, especially when it came to my body. Being Asian I was categorized as a larger size compared to my Asian peers, even though I was at normal weight. I went to a private school that required uniforms. It was nice that we didn’t have the pressure to dress up each day and the uniformity hid my body’s perceived shortcomings.
When I got to college there was no uniform to hide behind. My grandmother reminded me that the best way to show confidence and personality is through what you do best. I immediately knew what to do. I turned my love for clothing and fashion into a self-esteem booster. I took up running to help gain even more confidence. When you get those endorphins going it’s hard to not feel like you can conquer anything!
There are many ways to boost self-esteem, and pass them down to your kids. I’d love to hear your story of finding self-confidence. I know it’s different for everyone, and it can still be a challenge no matter what age you are.
So how do you instill confidence?
